The Wingello Public School Parents' and Citizens' (P&C) is a fantastic way to meet other parents, share ideas and become part of our small school community. For the miniscule annual fee of $2, you can become a member of the P&C, which enables you to vote on some of the big decisions that are discussed and made at our general meetings.  Being a small school, we rely heavily on the help provided  by parents and other family members throughout the year and would love to welcome you to the Wingello Public School community.

The key volunteer roles within the valued P&C committee include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Sub-committee Chairs.

The P&C meetings are held via video (Zoom) on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7pm.  If a set meeting falls within school holidays the meeting is usually skipped or rescheduled. There are no meetings in January.

We encourage interested school and community members to come along and find out more about how the P&C assists the school and the ways you can contribute to this valuable association to benefit our local school.

Current office bearers of the Wingello P&C:

President - Kylie Turner

Vice President - Sofie Rocca

Treasurer - Kylie Boland

Secretary - Kathryn Parmenter

Office bearers hold these positions for a period of 1 year. The above will change during the first P&C Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2026.

What is the P&C Association?

A Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is a group of community minded people — parents and citizens — who take on a more formal role to assist the school in providing:

● Feedback on school policies and activities

● Additional resources to be used to enhance student learning

● Parents with opportunities to be involved in their child’s education.

What is the role of the P&C Association?

The principal is the site manager for the school and acts as the representative for the Minister of Education.

The P&C Association is there to work with the principal and the school community in a productive partnership, to achieve the best possible outcomes for students of the institution.

It is not the role of the P&C Association to interfere in the daily running of the school, which is the responsibility of the principal.

Functions of the P&C Association (from the P&C Model Constitution)

● To foster community interest in educational matters.

● To encourage closer cooperation between the parents of students attending the school, other members of the community, staff and students of the school.

● To provide advice and recommendations to the principal of the school on issues and concerns in respect of students and the general operation and management of the school.

● To provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the school.

Schools have their own budgets — but invariably they need more than the budget allows. That’s where the P&C becomes a really valuable partner.

One of the major functions of the P&C is to raise money through various fundraising events held throughout the school year. Whether that be a good old fashioned sausage sizzle or cake sale, or our well known major fundraising event the “Wingello Spring Fling”.

Fundraising is a powerful way in which to help our school get much-wanted additional resources — from extra library books, playground improvement and development, to assist in funding extra classes such as music lessons.

All money raised by the P&C is used for the benefit of the school. But as a member, you get to vote on how funds are used — and ultimately, that can benefit your child too.

All and any input in helping to organise, manage and run our fundraising events is very welcomed and appreciated. Because we’re a small school any help makes a BIG difference.

If you have any further questions about the P&C, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our office bearers directly.
